Got number 10 last month, and now I'm finally feeling serious about downsizing (need room for the next bike I can't pass up, there's still 4 or 5 on my wish list). I have a Honda 750 V4 in the shed that needs carb work I don't feel like doing, an 883 I haven't even insured for 2 or 3 years, and a pair of Ural sidecar rigs that just went on the "need a new home" list because #10 is a Harley sidecar rig that's everything the Urals aren't. Except for the 750 and a Yamaha trailbike with no trails to ride, I hate to part with the others, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense to keep them all, unless you have lots of room and lots of money, and I don't have either.

Old bikes just get older and depreciate to the point where dealers don't want to take them in trade for anything., and you'd have to sell them cheap. At 65K miles, a well maintained TwinCam bike still has some good miles left in it, so I think that might be a good time to trade or sell. Is there another bike that you'd like to have as a backup? I remember that you had trouble with a newer bike a year or two ago, and had to rely on your #2 bike. I've had multiple bikes on the road at the same time since the late 1970s so I know how that works. Having two or more bikes of the same type seems redundant to me.

I had two bikes but no longer. Now I have three!! I try to ride them all. Most weeks each one gets a ride weather permitting.

It's a lot easier to maintain just one bike.
But it's nice to have one still running when one's getting new tires and brake pads and another one decides that's the time to eat a turn signal wire...

I have two Harley's with no room for three. However, I entertained the thought of trading in my Dyna for one of those new Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe.

My FLH Shovel isn't going anywhere, and there's a line of guys that want it. My Evo Electra-Glide is still the long trip bike because of the bags and trunk. It's comfortable, the engine is not stock, still runs great (even with a boatload of miles on it), and isn't worth anything for sale anyway. They're both paid for, and I have the space. I still ride them both a lot, so....no.

Yep 2 bikes is nice, but if I want to ride it I'll have to get a new seat, I can't risk it setting off the tailbone pain again. I'm not kidding I can't even ride it to the end of the street.

A spare bike is only good if you can use it when you need it. Sounds like you have more to gain if you get the seat.
You needed a spare not long ago, didn't you?

I own a 2012 Heritage and a 2018 SGS and plan on keep them both. They have different rides and different creature comforts. Two totally different bikes in my opinion.
