Default I think they are hurting

I ride an 08 Heritage. About 3 weeks ago I stopped by the dealership and asked them to run the numbers on a new Heritage.
The best they could do was 3k down and $550 per month.

Got a text from them yesterday claiming they could do wonders.

Stopped by today and they came up with 1k down and $325 per month.
They did do wonders.

I have not signed the papers (yet).

How long is the term they’re offering and what’s the interest rate? Depending on the answers, you may want to check your local credit union to see if they can beat it

Based on the numbers you've given, for all we know they actually raised the price.

Shopping by monthly payments is a good way to take one dry.

What's the price? The actual price? How much did the loan term increase going from $550/mo to $325/mo?

OP, this is all about duration of loan and interest rate. All the other stuff is BS.

I will second the comments about not shopping by down payment and monthly plan. Agree on an out-the-door price then when that is settled, talk about payment options and financing. If you negotiate in terms of monthly payments and such, chances are you will get taken to the cleaners.

Shopping by payments is a dealer’s dream.

Nope, same terms. The second guy is giving $4500 more for the trade and cut the price of the bike dramatically.

Another kicker is the it would come with the 3 year service plan.

They are hurting for sure.

Sorry to pile on OP, but I strongly agree with all of the above. All excellent advice.

It's July, new bikes are out in a month or so, of course they want to clear as many 18s as they can.

No way would there be a difference of $225 per month without a change of terms. DOES not add up at all.
