Advice for parade riding?

On Sept. 15th I will participate in the Guinness world record Harley parade ride from Paris TX. HD to Grant OK. Two weeks ago I got stuck in construction zone traffic in approx. 90 degree temp. I was creeping along in stop and go traffic mostly at about 5 MPH for over 30 min. I was using a little throttle and riding the friction zone a lot to creep at very slow speed. after about 25-30 min. I noticed when I let off the throttle the idle would stay higher than normal and the bike was running very hot. Finally the traffic began moving and after 20-30 mi. of hiway speeds the idle began returning to normal. This is the first time this has happened. Although I have ridden in hotter weather it may be the first time for that long at slow speed on this bike. I don't know if the bike kicked in to "Parade mode" or not. I was told in another thread that the bike has an EITMS system but it may or may not have been activated by the dealer.
It made me wonder what will it be like on the parade ride?
Is there any better technique for sustained slow speed riding that is better for keeping the motor cooler?
Don't really want to add fans.
Thanks for any advice,

My personal advice is not to do a parade ride.

I doubt the record attempt will be as slow as the traffic you were in, since it'll be escorted.

Turn on your EITMS, a dealer doesn't have to activate it.

Concur with Keith...

You'll know when EITMS kicks in. It's a different sound and vibration.

Some insurance doesn’t cover parades.
Another good reason to avoid parades.

Parade riding is more abusive to the bike than bouncing it off the rev limiter....

Forget the parade. Too hokey anyway. Stay home & have coitus.

Change your fluids and install a Jagg oil cooler. Have fun.

Thanks for the input guys. I should mention I'm not doing this just to get my name in the Guinness book. I'm going because all the proceeds are going to Combat veterans and I want to check out Adam Sandoval's new campground by Moyers OK. where he is setting up cabins and campsites free to veterans. Also he is going to have a huge party at the campground and there is some good riding in the area.
If you are not familiar with Adam Sandoval you may want to check out his You Tube channel. He has been riding the country for years raising money to help vets.
