Not what I was expecting!

Good on you for being honest and, beautiful bike. I've been studying the market and there are several things that will probably hurt your likely selling price: 1) "dirty" Carfax (sounds like it was minor but...), 2) "high miles" (too many clean low-mileage garage queens out there), 3) Pre-M8 and Pre-Rushmore so, two generations behind. And, as an added bonus, 2019's will be out in a few weeks and you're heading toward the end of the riding season in your area.
If it were me, I'd certainly try to private sell it for more than the $8700 but, would post it soon and price it to move fast so you're not stuck with it all winter. Sounds like you're on good terms with a local dealer, it would be interesting to see what they'd give you for it (straight, no new bike involved).

That bike in this market is a $10,000 bike. Won't get much more than that unless you get someone who needs that particular bike. I'm sure if I waited a week I could get it for $9 thou. Not knocking you as I have a 2012 RKC with 12 thou miles and that's just the range is. That's the market. Some folks don't seem to have a firm grasp on what exactly it is that Rumbleon does. They have a business willing to buy bikes in a totally **** market. This is the kind of business only a person like myself would think would be a good idea. They buy a bike from a picture; guarantee the payment will get to you; transport the bike across country; prep the bike and fix anything the seller "forgot" to mention; advertise the bike trying to sell it to someone else from a picture who themselves will have to transport the bike to them. There is always someone who refuses to sell their bike for a dollar less than they think it is worth and willing to hold on to it until they die or their wife makes them sell it. There are other folks like me who don't want to deal with every Craigslist ******** who wants to test ride the bike; waste my time and want me explain how I think a guy with a FICO score OF 300, 6 kids, and a minimum wage job could get a loan. The market is what it is. If Rumbleon was not offering a fair price for bikes they wouldn't be getting and selling bikes. They make you a timely offer, not threaten to shoot your dog if you don't sell to them. It's just another option for folks like me who figure if you do your "significant/hard" drinking during happy hour the money you lost on the sale can be made up.

put the stock wheels back on, the stock stereo, take out the amp (sure you've got one), and replace the wrap around fender. just that quick little bit of work, you'll be able to sell that stuff for at least another grand. gets you up close to 10.....
it hurts, but it is what it is... btw, my wife has a 2012 bbp, she'd sure like that inner fairing, and stereo.

Not in any great hurry. I just didn’t realize the market was THAT soft. Live and learn. Doesn’t help the season in the Northeast will be coming to a close pretty soon. Probably end up keeping it and see if I can do anything with the arthritis to alleviate some of the pain, so I can keep riding.

They offered me 13k for a 17 Breakout with a ton of extras and 4800 miles, I had it on cycletrader.com and had lowered the price to 16k without a peep. I ended up trading it in for 15k, but you don't need a new bike in you're situation, or you would keep that beautiful bike you have. Good luck with the sale, you just have to sit on it till the right buyer comes along.
