Default BIG Wheel Craze(y)

The wife and I were in Sturgis last week and saw what I believe to becoming an insane size for a front wheel.....40 inches!!!!.

Where and when is this crazy craze going to end?!. I'm sorry but I think these things are starting to become just a tad ridiculous.

How's everyones thoughts on these BIG wheels?

Thanks...Scott

p.s. I had a Big Wheel when I was a tyke and don't care to have one now.

Whatever turns your crank.

My buddy Mark who runs an indy shop next door has a handful of customers who are into that stuff. The money they spend on those things is remarkable...like almost $4k for a billet wheel. And that's before they buy the tire.

Works for him. Those customers of his are guys with big bux who enjoy having an expensive hobby. Get three or four anesthesiologists together competing over who has the biggest front wheel (or biggest motor, or chromeiest turbo kit, or fattest rear tire, or whatever), and Mark's living in high cotton.

People have been customizing vehicles almost since they were invented..
cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, etc... lots of innovative stuff is now common because of that..
if someone wants big wheels, or taller apes, or a jammin' system, or periwinkle paint, thats their thing..

Not that tall but I'm saw them on the 10-15 year old fat tire tall choppers. Looks kind of strange to me.

Not a fan of the large front wheels ... also the "swept backs" I guess I'm gettin' old and/or set in my ways

I think that this craze is on its downward phase. I see tons of these bikes on eBay and Craigslist and they just sit and a sit without any nibbles.

No way in hell this is a improvement to how the bike performs... It's strictly for looks and to get attention... nope not for me, but more power to you if that's what you like... I just like ridding them! Ether way it's no big wheel....

Different strokes and all that, but I can't imagine they handle well at all. Probably has a huge resistance to turn. I'm sure the tire price is hilarious.

Give it a few years and ---just like the chopper craze---it will be something else, soon. Everything now has to have a big wheel and bags that are dragging the ground. If not that, then it has fishtail exhaust sticking 4 feet past the rear fender.

What ever happened to bobbers? Only seen a handful in the last few bike rallys I have been to.

Yep, I just got back from Sturgis myself and it seemed like there were lots fewer of those big wheel baggers around than in previous years.
