Was gonna ride the bike to NYC, but having second thoughts, due to congestion. ( not the phlegm kind ) .Maybe ride to NJ and do a boat taxi to midtown.Any advice on where to catch the boat and logistic info. would be greatly appreciated, and as a pay back, I can advise on upstate NY and southern tier.Please. I have no clue where to catch that gosh dang water taxi. Gonna be traveling with my son. He's as harley lovin' as you can get, but even the little guy does not wanna ride on the back of the M8 in NYC. Thank you, in advance !!

The most popular place from which to take a ferry from NJ to NYC would be Port Imperial in Weehawkin or Hoboken ferry terminal. Check out the NY Waterways website. Problem with NY Waterways, is that driving to the NJ Ferry terminals is almost as bad as driving in Manhattan, with traffic and parking. A more "fun" way to go would be to take the Seastreak Ferry (www.seastreak.com) from Atlantic Highlands. There's less congestion and parking available. The ride is longer, but 'way more fun than the smaller short-hop NY Waterways ferries.
Me, I drive to the nearest park and ride and take the NJ Transit Bus in when I have to go to Manhattan. DON'T take your bike to Manhattan, except MAYBE for very early Sunday morning!
