It's Harley Davidson's marketing on this bike that bugs me. It is not a performance bike and they get folks to overpay for that reason and then pay even more to make it "look & run right".
Hooligan's? Now that's funny. You are a bad *** because you over paid for an under performing bike? It reminds me of this video.

Harley markets it as a Performance Cruiser. People seem to obsess on the first word and ignore the second. You should go try one, cause it's a lot of fun.

Also HD is absolutely marketing it on the performance side.
"The main customer we focused the motorcycle on is the person who wants performance ahead of just about anything else," says Vice President of Styling and Design Brad Richards.
it feels like they are marketing a Dodge Demon, pricing it as such then delivering a 6 cylinder Challenger instead. The buyer can upgrade the performance to a hemi challenger (not even SRT) with dealer priced/installed add ons.

I had bought a Fat Boy 107 a few months back and liked it. Loved it. Could only get one set of tires and the handling was kind of funky. Put a stage 1 on it and it wasn't enough of a difference for me and the cost of adding more stages was high enough to just get another bike.
Left over FXDR caught my eye when I was buying the Fat Boy. It felt horrible to sit on though.
Fast forward to last week and I was trading my Fat Boy and CRF450L in on the FXDR. Hadn't even ridden it.
Love the bike.
To anybody that thinks it does not handle you'd be wrong. It has a lot more lean angle than the rest of the range. Suspension keeps line through corners and adjustments can be made mid corner without issue although steering feel is a little heavy due to rear tire width.
It isn't fast by by stretch. Maybe after a stage 2 when you get an extra 20 rwhp.
It has a decent amount of torque and what speed it has is deceptive. Pulling easily away from a stop without much throttle work.
I'm breaking myself in to the riding position but surprisingly it hasn't been bad so far. Did a 160 mile ride last night without issue. 4 hours out. Last hour started to feel it a little but not bad.
Loving the bike.
