My boy, my old bike and a great dealer!!
I don't know if this link will work, so here is the story behind the video in this link. My first Harley was an 04 Wide Glide. I had owned a lot of bikes before this one, but fell in love with it. I did performance upgrades, cams, exhaust, dyno-tune, etc. And did my first custom paint job that was not done with rattle can lol, on this bike. And I have 5 boys who all helped to their abilities at the time. My step son Shay, and I use that term very loosely because I have been his dad since birth. I only use that term as we do not share a last name, was the most involved in the progression of my bike. He has also been the one who has enjoyed working on the bikes I have gotten for the boys over the years. Well, 2 years ago I traded it off on my 14 Street Glide, and it killed me to let it go, but financially I couldn't have both at the time. It has been bought and traded back to that dealership twice in the last 2 years, and just recently came back again. I get a phone call from Shay and he says, "Guess where I am Dad?" I said in my most loving Fatherly tone "How the **** should I know!" lol. He told me he was at the dealership getting ready to test ride my old bike. I told him to let me know what he thought. He called later that day and said "You really took it easy with us on the back cuz **** that thing moves!" Well, long story short he told the sales guy the story behind the bike and said he wanted to buy it, the salesman was really moved by the fact that Shay had helped make the bike what it was and that he wanted to own his dads old bike. He put a little money down to hold it while he figured out financing and the next week went back and bought the bike. I was on a weekend ride when he got it, but my wife took him over to pick it up. They both teared up when it was official and when the salesman had him in front of the bell to ring it in, he called the whole dealership over so they could hear Shays story. and that is what is in the video. After that, all of the salesmen and even the shop guys and the clothing girls came up and shook his hand and told him that was going to be their favorite sales story of all time, and they were glad to be a part of it. Just goes to show you for all the bitching we all do about the stealerhips, there are some good ones, with good people. Side note, we went on our first ride together on his new bike on Sunday. I guess I built that old 88 up right because after 4th gear, he ate me alive! Gonna have to do something about that lmao. Ride on brothers!! BTW this was all at Loess Hills Harley in Pacific Junction IA. Big shout out to those guys!! Heres the video link, let me know if it works: <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/vid...xt=0&width=560" width="560" height="315" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" allowFullScreen="true"></iframe>

Great story. It's a great feeling to know your son's turned out right. Nice looking bike.
Contrary to popular belief, HD salesmen have feelings. Last year I stopped in at Boardtracker HD, on the way to Beloit. While I was in there I heard a couple in their 30s say to the salesman, " Maybe we should ask somebody with a Harley?". I thought they wanted an opinion on a first bike, so I told them I had a Harley. They said they just buried their Uncle, who had died in the Winter, and was finally being interred. He was a Harley biker, and wanted somebody to rev their bike up at his gravesite. I asked how far away the grave was and they said 3 miles, so I said I would do it. Actually it was 8 miles in heavy traffic, and made me a half hour late, but it was worth it when they both cried at the sound of my engine. Their Uncle had a Harley on his headstone.
Next day my wife and I went back to the dealer to buy my wife a mesh jacket. I was talking to the salesmen, and he told me the couple came back to the dealer to thank him later that night. They were still crying. When the salesman told the story to his mother on the phone, she cried. Sometimes, there really is a Harley brotherhood.
