5 days on the road and hanging at the Dragon....bike thoughts

I was in that area last year and I agree fully that Cherohala rocks. I met a guy down there in Maggie Valley and he turned mo onto a couple of other roads that are a must. Mostly around the Little Switzerland area. Also want to ride the Moonshiner 28. Hope to be heading back down next year.

I guess I’m one person that wasn’t impressed at all with the Cherohala skyway, it was boring. I thought the BRP was way better, especially riding through all of the tunnels, and up to Mt Mitchell.
The dragon was fun because I was with others who wanted to go slow so I got up front with a sport bike rider. I did my best to keep up with him and those 11 miles flew by. It was interesting to see how far back some of the others in the group were after I had finished. I dragged every bit of my RGS and got some really good pics taken. Would I do it again? Only if I was in that area, no need to go there just for that again.

The dragon is a tourist trap. Did it once and called it good. Nevermind that semis still get trapped on that route every so often.
I would highly suggest camping at Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground and explore the area. The owner is very 2 wheel friendly. We rode all the way to Atlanta and couldn't make it back the same day, didn't charge us for that day and even kept an eye on our camping gear. Plus there are 4 heated and super clean private bathrooms.
Make Bell Mountain as a stop too.
