Default Ride Patch Etiquette.

A group of 3 went to Pikes Peak. One in the group really wanted to "earn" her a patch by going to the top. At mile 14 or so she reached her limit, stopped in middle of road turned around and went back to parking area at mm 13. We called from top to see if she was ok and asked if she could close her eyes and take a shuttle bus up. Thru a few hardships she made it to top on the bus knees trembling.

Question: should she wear the "I rode the Peak" motorcycle patch on vest?

I'm a member of a riding club. Any patches worn have to be fully earned. That said; I met a rider (not a member) who was wearing a large broken wings patch because he liked the looks of it. I earned mine

I can't believe this is a serious question.

Better question: Why is she wearing a vest instead of real riding gear?

She can wear what she wants, its a free country and all. She would basically be lying though, as she did not "ride to the top" like the patch says. Though if she made it to mile 14, its pretty much more of the same the last 5 miles up.

The first time I rode it, I could only get to mile 15 because it was closed above that due to ice on the road above. I've ridden two bikes to the summit three times since, do I get three patches?
