Actually quite easy to remove a stock rubber grip in less than 2 mins without any damage. With a pair of work gloves on for good grip, just grab hold of the grip at the open end (furthest from end of handlebar) and twist it firmly back and forth. It will start to rotate and break the glue bond. Work your way down to the end of the grip and it will finally loosen up. Just have some patience and don't give up it will break free. And of course you can reinstall with grip glue at any time in the future.

WD-40.
Stick the little red plastic nozzle under the edge and give it a shot. Wiggle it around until that part is loose. Then stick the nozzle further into the grip and repeat until you've got the whole thing loose, and it will then just slide right off.
Don't forget to safety-wire your new grips.
