Default A bump in the Blue Ridge Parkway, a Harley crash. Rider is suing for $1.7 million.

A South Carolina man has sued the federal government, claiming that he wrecked his motorcycle and seriously injured himself when he struck a bump in the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2016. Dallas Fisher says a warning sign near Milepost 465 only gave him about 25 feet of advance notice of the bump.

...As his Harley flipped, Fisher slammed into the handlebars and he landed on his right hand, the lawsuit says. His injuries would not have occurred, he says, “if it wouldn’t have been for hump in road.”

At the time he produced his account, Fisher was in an Asheville hospital being treated for fractured ribs and a punctured lung, among other injuries. Despite surgery, he has not recovered the full use of his right hand, the lawsuit says.

Fisher says his medical bills have topped $500,000.

Interesting post. Next thing you know people will be suing for tar snakes, no railings on the Tail of the Dragon, potholes, slippery road markings, no "Deer Crossing" signs, etc.

When will people take responsibility for their own actions and mistakes?

...or suing the state for giving them a motorcycle license when they don't really know how to ride...

If you can spill Mc Donald's coffee on yourself and get a million bucks then tar snakes gotta be worth more.

I ride the BRP regularly and there are many such 'bumps' in the road. Bet I have totaled better than 10,000 miles there, nary a close call other than critters, mostly deer. Bet this guy is a real piece of work...
