Make sure to check the wheel bearings!! That long sitting and the grease not moving often makes it dry out and stop lubricating. I know this because the '98 I bought with only 28k miles on it did this to me and the rear wheel bearings got so hot they welded to the axel and I had to cut off each end with a sawzall to be able to get it and the wheel off the bike to replace everything.

Not sure what kind of wheel bearings that year uses - the 'sealed' bearings or the cone bearings like on my '98. Either way, check them and replace them!

Nice bike.... good deal ..... do a complete nut & bolt check, using a Torque wrench. All the fluids. I would do the tires but I am **** that way. True the wheels. .... Probably the brake pads also. ...... whatever you do, you know it’s done because YOU did it.

A nice city/back road bike..... Add Some leather saddle bags and you have a cross country touring ride

It’s cleaning up nicely, found a couple of spots in the chrome pieces but easily replaced. Definitely replacing the tires.

it actually came with leather saddle bags, they are not on the bike, I am using some conditioner on them before adding them.

had a neighbor bring a friend by today, he seems interested in buying it, he asked if he could hear it run, I let him start it, damn thing barely made a revolution before firing and going straight to and idle, you could see it in his face.

for now, I’m gonna keep it.

I used to work with this short little midget dude that rode a Wide Glide, it was fun watching him ride it to work, kind of like watching an 8 year old on a ten speed that was too high off the ground for him,it was like he was gonna dump it any minute...
