Default Electric Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Is there a demand for them?

I'd like to see sleek, durable, electric motorcycles with a 100 mile electric charge range. I'd also like to know how they'll operate in the rain?

They'll do just fine in the rain, why wouldn't they?

I agree, why wouldn't they?
Hybrid and electric cars handle all of the elements fine and have been for going on two decades.
Personally I'd like to see a minimum of 150 mile range though and some form of fast charging. Until they can do that and be used for commuting they will just be a novelty.

I agree with ORradtech, they will just be a novelty item until they can get a much higher range, hell even at 150 mile range they wouldn't work for the ride we have planned this weekend, let alone any real "traveling" They will try the commuter market first and see how well they do before they commit any more resources to develop long range bikes. As for rain, I would expect the power source to be sealed from the elements so that shouldn't be a concern. Not for me though.

With the limited range and their cost, I’d ride a scooter as a commuter instead. If the acceleration is your thing, it’s my understanding that a Bergman will ****-N-git and do it all day long, not just for 100 miles and still be cheaper than a battery powered bike.

Practical electric bikes are here now. How about this:

There are others. That Energica Ego is one sweet bike, maybe my next one.

You can buy a bike (a real motorcycle, not a moped) with 200 miles city range today, and it's just going to get better. The electric revolution is just getting started, and it will happen so fast our heads will spin. The day's not far off when you'll have to get a permit to drive your stinky, polluting internal combustion powered motorcycle on a track because they won't be allowed on the street.

If true, it makes me glad I’ve been around longer than I’m gonna be around.

Nothing. Unless of course your idea of touring is doing Bike nights in nearby towns and the occasional toy run.
