Hi all, I'm looking for suggestions for a light riding jacket. Basically something about the same warmth as a hoodie for cool-ish weather where a long sleeve shirt isn't quite enough. I'd prefer to stay away from MoCo branded clothing unless the branding is subtle. For example, I'd probably consider something like this if it works well:
I use a first gear mesh jacket every day down here in S Florida and I like it it. It has a light water resistant liner that zips out. I took mine out and havent put it back yet.
Maybe a denim jacket? They are very common among riders for a reason. My local Farm & Fleet store has the Wrangler brand for $39 dollars. Great quality and they come in gray, black and two shades of blue.
If you are set on the style of jacket that you showed, I bought one at Cycle Gear (forgot the brand) That is great. It has a removable inner lining for colder weather and has armor in the shoulders and back. Very comfortable and fits great.

OP, you're in Mass., how long do you have "autumn" before snow? A couple weeks? I'd say get a winter jacket that has liners for both rain & warmth. Cycle Gear has this also.
Plenty of companies making fully Kevlar lined hoodies and shirts. I've been using Scorpion Covert shirts. They do take armour, but you have to buy that seperately. Keeps the chill off, and much better than a leather jacket when temperatures rise.
I would be interrested in a good summer jacket as well. Mesh?
The mesh is pretty nice. They have the armor in the shoulders, elbows and back too.
The mesh is supposed to melt together to protect you in case of a slide.
I hope to never find out.
I've found the rain liner that comes with my Olympia mesh jacket will also fit over the jacket. That's important because if I ride in the rain with the liner zipped in, the jacket stills gets soaked.

One of my considerations was actually to get a lined flannel jacket like that but my only concern was that the collars would be flapping around in my face while riding. To be fair, I wasn't looking at motorcycle specific ones but something like from Duluth Trading.
