battery dead - help please

Ignition was left on and battery is completely dead.

HD Dealer sold me a battery charger and a harness.

Get home put on the charger (apparently no ned for harness, alligator clips go right on terminal and bike, thanks HD, not) and I get a slow blinking light.

Tinker with it and it becomes a fast flashing light if I remove one of the clips. Put the clip back on and get a slow blinking light.

Book says, I am supposed to get a steady amber light, says if have a blinking light it aint charging.

Does not differntiate between slow or flast blinking.

Do I ned to remove battery and put on the harness? Seems unlikely, clips work fine and I dont see the benefit of the harness.

Anyone else have success here and the same experience?

thanks ahead of time.

2002 softail springer.

Manual says blinking light means it is not charging. If I have the clips on the battery I get a slow blinking light. If I remove the clips the light blinks fast.

Manual does not differntiate between the two.

Bite the bullet and replace the battery. Been there, done that.

yup if its flashing its prolly gone. maybe you can get the dough back on the charger and soften the impact of the buy.

edit... worse thing is its sunday so you have to wait till monday? or maybe not i think HD is open on sunday and closed on mon.

keep the tender and still buy a new Battery that or go ahed and keep it on charge till in the morning and see what is says then it just sounds like you completely drained the battery so it needs to charge from scratch it is a tender so it will take all nitght not just a two hour charge to recieve a full charge and dont worry most tenders will not over charge as they will shut off when done anyway if you keep the tender go ahead and install the plug in harness as it will be more convient when this happens again
