Should I expect to get a letter? There are a lot of Harley owners who don't belong to forums or surf the web for recalls. I've gotten certified mail for an auto recall.
I'm still waiting on my letter for the crappy base gaskets and cam bearing they put in my Evo.
I went into the HD shop this morning and they told me they got the recall update yesterday and that the parts will start arriving the end of the first week of November. The mechanic said it is not that difficult to do and not a lot of labor. I will leave mine until Spring.
While on tour to the Ozarks (from Virginia) my buddy's clutch on his 2017 RKS failed twice, once in St. Louis, MO and once in Eureka Springs, AR. Both times he had it towed to a dealer. In St. Louis they said they fixed it, but it failed again 4 days later. When it did, he left the bike at the dealer and went next door and bought an Indian to ride home. H-D ended up buying the bike back from him under Maryland's Lemon Law where he lives (he had it serviced twice previously in Md. for clutch problems) and gave him $1000 for his inconvenience.
My salesman called me a couple days ago and told me there was a recall on all affected Touring models. I went to the HD website and entered my VIN, sure enough. No work for me till the 7th of November, I'll take it in this week and avoid the rush.
Will not do much good to take it in this week, from what I was told by the dealer and shown on their letter from HD the parts kits for the recall will not arrive at the dealerships before Nov 5
