Self-preservation. Your bikes were making their bikes look even uglier.

And the BMW snobbery thing is pretty cliche. They would have done the same thing had you pulled up on BMWs. Seriously - who parks under a demo tent? The right thing would be park the bikes with everyone else out in the rain and haul *** under the tent to look at BMWs and drink their coffee. Your reception would have been entirely different regardless of your attire.
Have to agree. "Their tent their rules" said it best.

Why is this statement even relevant to the story?

Unless I missed something, the op parked outside in the rain.

Were their bikes in/under the tent? That's not how I read it. The OP will have to confirm, but sounds like they were parked not far outside it, and ducked underneath to stay dry (themselves) for ~5 minutes.

"...pull into the parking lot in front of the tent set up in front of the BMW dealership, dismount and duck under the edge of the tent to wait out the downpour. ..."
"...we were at the very first three feet of it...."
"...our parking spots close to the tent ..."
"...but for perhaps nine square feet of cover for five minutes..."

Ok, maybe I misunderstood that part. Regardless, they were parked where they shouldn't have. Sure, if it were me I wouldn't care. In fact I would have taken the opportunity to talk up the brand.

So that's on them. BMW is doing worse than Harley Davidson. It's really struggling and for the first time in a long time they sell less bikes in the US than the do in Germany.

I bought 2 new BMW's and a Triumph from that dealership in Daytona, and they ignore me and seem not to give a ****. I don't think it is you.

If the BMW lady had a lick of common sense she would have been a wee bit more polite. Maybe you guys would have considered a BMW for a future purchase. Gotta wonder why they would hire a rude dumbass for a job where you deal with people who have a choice whether or not to deal with you. Maybe snobby elitism sells bikes.
