Some of the most cheap, hardcore, well traveled "bikers" I know ride crusty old BMWs held together with duct tape and bailing wire. The 71 /5 I bought last year was from one of the "classier" ones. The mirror has a weld spot where he tacked it back on after breaking it off. The foot peg rubbers are held on with bailing wire.

My experience
I show at many places including Daytona. When the rain comes in anyone who wants to come on in can get out of it. The more the merrier. You are not going to sell anything anyhow so just chill. I guess that the reason why I was attracted to this life is to be around like minded people. Hanging out is fun and meeting new people is even more fun. Maybe that women was having a bad day or like some wives you may know, live there, just their nature. Would I waste one second dwelling on it, hell no. That is the long or short of it. It was early am and raining, I do not see anything the OP did wrong because if a tree falls and there are no customers to hear/see it, who cares. One year it rained for a few days but you wait for better days and make the best of it. Picture of rain at my spot at Daytona maybe 2006 or so.

The problem is people, some are nice and some are jerks. The lady that spoke to the OP was a jerk. She could have just as easily said "can I help you" and then asked that the bikes be moved before they leave and/or when the rain stops.
Then there are people like FastHarley who welcome anyone.

Yup, and not only that, her (BMW) attitude has now been plastered on the Internet for everyone to read about until the end of time.
(or until we have a big coronal mass ejection from the sun and a giant EMP happens and the Internet is destroyed.

Everybody is different. I prefer sales staff leave me alone/ignore me while I'm looking at a vehicle. I typically know more about it than they do and don't need any chatter while I'm looking. If I'm interested enough to buy, I have no problem going to a sales person and saying "Do you want to make SOME money real quick, or wait for a maybe home run?". When I go to buy a vehicle I'm not ordering a meal in a restaurant and need to be waited on; it's nothing but mathematics for me and having somebody yammering away is distracting.
If I’m going to drop 16k on a new bike I should not have to beg a salesperson to “wait” on me. But that’s just me.
