You're not the only one. I used to have an EG classic that I put the extra mounting points on the back in order to quickly attach a tour pak or the back pad. When a cager took out my EG classic I looked for another EG to replace it, not thinking about getting a Road King instead. A RK is what my late brother used to have. I ended up replacing the EG with a Ultra Classic. Sometimes I wish now I would've gotten a RK instead. Not that there's anything wrong with an EG. When I was younger and put more miles on than I do now, having all the bells and whistles of an UC would've been great. Now however I tend to do shorter rides, and it would be nice to slim the bike down if I wanted to, or add items or a windscreen for an occasional longer ride.

There is a reason it’s called “Road King”.. (just noticed “Cbyway” beat me to the tag line) ;-)

I’d have to agree that the RK is the most versatile Harley.... I was a change bikes every few years guy for a long time... until I got the Road King. Haven’t even considered changing since I got it... 6 years now

Why do they call it the 'King'.....it's a cruiser, it's a tourer, it's a commuter.....most versatile sure.

Care to elaborate on the "Best HD, No" part of your reply?

Yes, that is true. But, I wouldn't buy an RK or Heritage to ride aggressively. I would probably go with a Ducati or a sports bike for that. I used to ride a GSX in my younger years, and yes, I rode that beast very aggressively and carelessly.

When I go riding nowadays, I do it to unwind and leave stress behind, something I could not do if I rode aggressively. Then again, I might be showing my age :-)

I don't get it when I hear someone say a RK is just too big and heavy for riding around town. Sure, tour bikes are heavier to lift from the Jiffy Stand but once rolling I find it very light and nimble.
