That's one of the basic laws of Physics. If you don't have a windshield you don't need windshield wipers.

So here in Virginia, we got some crappy weather going on. Last night the weatherman said below freezing temps, possible morning ice and ALL DAY RAIN. So I say dang, I better take the 4x4 just to be safe. About 5 miles from the office, my wipers quit in the pouring rain!!! Fortunately for me there's a repair shop a few miles up the road. So I'm limping along in the slow lane at maybe 25-30 mph, flashers on, wiping the window the best can, while trying not to die. And as I'm white knuckling my truck in this soup, thinking damn this sucks.... some guy on a Sportster goes flying by me like its a beautiful sunny day. And all I could think was..... Damn, you got NOTHING for that guy!
I hardly ever use my wipers in the rain anymore.
The only time I do is to reapply the rain-x if it's been a while since the last rain.

I've been without wipers before in torrential rain in a cage. It's a bit different than being on a bike. HOWEVER, how one is set up on a bike plays a huge factor in ones ability to see and operate a bike somewhat safely.
But OP, excellent story!!!
