I'm new to spokes on my 2018 FLHCS and am a bit concerned about having a flat and needing to call for assistance instead of just plug & fill along the road if I have a puncture. Have AMA and insurance roadside assistance to cover this. Like the look of spokes and don't mind the cleaning, though. As I recall, I've only had flats twice in the last 20 years on my cars. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I'd think any informed individual who is excessively ****-retentive regarding the look of their ride would avoid spokes like the plague! On the other hand 'laced' have the 'look'. Akin to white walls? White walls/ laced look great but 5 minutes on a gravelled, Manitoba back road??? (all back roads are gravel).

From a practical point, cast wheels are the answer. Some riders want more than just 'practical'.

I have spokes on my springer and love the way they look and would never change. I have also never had a problem with them, but they are more work to clean than aluminum wheels on my street glide.

I prefer spokes, if they get corroded replace them its that simple. Over 40 years of riding I have never had a spoke failure(knocks on wood).

I was getting ready to post ( pretty much ) the same thing ... My latest scooter is an 2009 Ultra and they're still looking and working great .

My bike has spokes and they look nice, but I actually prefer cast wheels, and not for appearance. With tubeless tires, I can use Ride-on tire sealant, and in the event of a puncture, it will almost certainly keep the air in the tire until I can safely stop. With tubes, the sealant doesn't work so well, so there's a more serious safety concern in the event of a flat. I'm not a big fan of inner tubes.

Not sure who "they" are ... but if you're going to quote you might at least try to get the name correct, that is assuming that you meant "Willie G"
