Cool HD Sign Project - seeking ideas
I received this sign/logo for Christmas so I'm looking for ideas. It'll hang in the garage over the toolbox somewhere on a white wall. The wall color won't change but the sign color can
so a couple ideas I have are to attach it to a piece of what we call sign blank, basically a flat, unpainted piece of sheet metal that I can paint black or HD orange. I can leave the sign the way it is, polish it up and clear coat it or have it chromed. Maybe put all of it together with a frame and either stain the frame or paint it.
here's the unfinished raw product

thanks Mallard, that's pretty impressive,
I think I can take an LED flat panel light and use some colored filter gels taped to the lens to get the colors and build the box around it. Only hangup I've seen so far is that most of the boxes I've seen go to 48", the one I have is 50" wide so it'll take some more digging to find what I'm looking for
but I like the backlighting ideas, thanks

I think it is too nice to box into a shadowbox.
Paint the sign gloss black to contrast the white wall.
Get some flexible color changing LED light strips. They have an adhesive backing and are less than 1/4" thick.
Adhere them on the back side, around the perimeter of the wings and in the center of the logo to balance the lighting.
Put 1/2" spacers between the sign and the wall and enjoy a nice backlighting effect whose color you can change whenever you like.

so this little project is just about wrapped up. I went ahead and had it chromed after welding some 1/4-20 studs to the back side and bought a piece of aluminum tread plate and had it powder coated then put some LED strips on the back.
Pic and a short video, you'll get the idea. It looks cool enough without the lights going. I thought the LED's would pop more than they do, but the still look OK. I spaced the sign above the treadplate about a 1/2" or so, I could probably play with that to get the lights where they display a little better, but it's on the wall now and probably going to stay that way.
