Default Motivation and cost to switch from FI to carbs?

There was one or more people on here that wanted to switch their bikes fuel injection to carburetor. Is that to get rid of as much electronics as possible? How much does it cost to have a shop do that?

What a load of EFI holier-than-thou bullshit. Beware the mis-information in some of the above posts.
CV (constant velocity) carbs are fine at elevation. Once dialed in, they are dead reliable and virtually maintenance free.
I've been up to 14000 feet numerous times without issue, and have gone 100000 miles with minimal maintenance.
EFI requires dyno to dial in, not something that can be done at home, and is reliant on the electrical system to function. Carbed fuel delivery stands alone.

Your preference for one or the other depends on your expectations.

That is the kind of thing one would do if you had two bikes and the combination of parts would make on good bike with carburetor.
And you did it yourself.
No way it would make economic sence to down grade a EFI to carb. Even the first generation MM one.

Is there a particular problem you're having, or some sort of issue that's leading you to want to ditch EFI? The early MM system wasn't too great, but the Delphi is hands down better and more capable than any carburetor.

If you want a carbureted bike, buy one. If you look hard enough, you can probably still find a low miler.

Yeah I really miss the choke and warm up. Also changing jets and running crappy at higher elevations.

No way would I ditch EFI to go back to a carb. Look around at car shows a lot of people are ditching the Carbs and dropping in EFI LS motors.

Switching the induction is easy. Depending on your electronics, that may make it a challenge. Chances are, you can open up a custom chrome book and find most everything you'd need.
Plan on a reduction in performance/rideability & durability with the carb.

No way go back to carb unless I never leave my local area. Every time we go east or west to the mountains I’m adjusting a bike with carbs. As off last year the last person went from carb bike to EFI

It's funny reading this post, because just a few years ago, everyone (myself included) would be posting just the opposite; about how much better carb was than EFI. Times have sure changed.

It can and has been done many times before. Search the forums here, and you will find those that went from a pain in the *** EFI setup to a pain in the *** carb setup.

My take on it is this...... EFI can be a pain in the *** to get running right if its malfunctioning. when its running right, its pretty maintenance free. Carbs are a pain in the ***, and require more in the way of periodic maintenance and cleaining. I was happy when I came to Harleys and left my Goldwing 1000 with its FOUR carbs behind. I know Harleys use a single carb, and have fewer issues than a multi-carb setup, but there are still issues with carbs that I will never miss. Plus if I NEVER have to sync multiple carbs again, it will be too soon.....
