I can commiserate w/ the OP.
My rant is tire shops not having "state of the art" tire pressure gauges.
I'd like a gauge that reads in 1/10 of a pound, mine reads digital in 1/2 pounds.
For a street Harley 1/2 pound will do nicely.
Summit Racing dot com maybe the best site to search for that quality tool?
I have not experience as to which guage/ brand is best only stating I bought a $10
digital from Radio Shack a decade ago and it is accurate and still working.
Good luck wished for finding your perfect tool!

Air expansion values are off by pounds in hot cold climates so being a1/10 off at the pump ain’t going to make that much difference 10 miles down the road.

I am a metrologist. About a year ago, I calibrated several tire pressure gages of various types. Some of the worst were digital. Believe it or not, I was surprised to see that every one of the cheap stem type were the best. They were more accurate and repeatable than the more expensive ones. They may not have the resolution of the better ones, but they were just as good.
I quit smoking about 11 years ago using Chantix.

I have that same exact gauge, sans inflator assembly. It's proven to be accurate and repeatable, and has a roughly eight inch hose, so it's handy for getting to hard to reach valve stems.

Doesnt matter what the product is, separating the steamers from the keepers is a pain in the ***. Cost is no indicator of quality, and anymore name brand is no indicator either. We as a society are conditioned to seek the cheapest POS that we can get away with, and manufacturers are conditioned to produce said crap as cheaply as possible. Everything is disposable, there is no more recalibration or rebuilding of a tool or part, just toss it and get another POS until it breaks. Unfortunately I dont see a way around this as a whole. That said, word of mouth is probably the best way to avoid the steamers, but even that is suspect, as its all opinion.
as for smoking, I never really got into that. I do enjoy a cigar every now and then, but nothing on a regular basis. Im just naturally this grumpy.
