I can't go either because I'm also already here. I'm even closer then you are because I'm in the center of all activity living here in Ormond Beach. Just 7 miles to the Speedway, about 5.5 miles to Main Street, 6.1 miles to Destination Daytona, less tha 3 miles to the Iron Horse and the other venues on US 1 in that area. Ok, maybe 12 or so miles to the Cabage Patch.
I can ride A1A, International Speedway Blvd and the loop any time I want, so why try to do so with a thousand other bikes clogging the road. I don't bar hop and I'm too damn old to party late into the night so those activities don't interest me. I've spent way too much money on my bike so, eventhought I like visiting the vendors, I can only drool over a lot of the new cool things that are available...and, even if I decide I wanted something I have found I can get it cheaper on-line afterwards.
If my son gets to come down a few days early we might be able to get some good riding in before the onslought arives. Durring the week I may get in a ride with the SCRC, hit up a few vendors and get some BBQ, but otherwise I might just hibernate for most of the week. Then, after they all go home and the weather clears up - don't you know it alway rains during Bike Week - I can go back to enjoying riding by myself or with the small groups I ride with.
The best thing about Daytona Bike Week is that there are some new T-shirts available that says I was there (already bought a few but not allowed to wear them until after) and it signals Spring has sprung.
I just hope that all that come down for Daytona Bike Week have a great time and enjoy the riding here in our little corner of the world. But what ever you do PLEASE ride safe.

Just like the 20+ preceding Bike Weeks - I'm going!
For those who only saw (and and heard) things they didn't like, I respectfully suggest that Daytona (Bike Week and Biketoberfest) are what you make it. If you spend all your time on main Street and Destination Daytona then in can get real old real quick. While i prefer the weather and smaller crowds of Biketoberfest, it's a short event and March is good time to be in Florida - even if it's northern Florida.

I'm hoping to see some fat tire front end baggers this year. I really like the looks of them.

We'll be there! The factory rig will be out at the Speedway, and then we're going to have a smaller setup over at Bruce Rossmeyer's.
