This new electric bike is really going to hurt the MoCo, and here's why: Thousands of existing real bikers will decide NOT to buy a new $50,000 2020 CVO, but will buy a LiveWire instead, because it's just as badass, and $20,000 cheaper.

You heard it here first.
Maybe HD will include this with every sale:

Anybody that can afford to spend that much on a novelty, is too smart to spend that much on a novelty.
They didn't get rich by being stupid. Harley doesn't get that.

Not really. Tesla has charging stations all over the country on every interstate. And they are laid out very well. With more being installed all the time. from a 20% or less charge to 80% 30 min. From low charge to 100% 1.5 hours. I don't see that as a hindrance. Just think how fast that has happened compared to gas pumps all over the place.

A 30 minute gas stop to get your tank 3/4 full?

An hour and a half at a gas station for a full fill-up?

This is hardly a serious transportation solution. If electric cars appeared in any serious number on the highways, their gas stations would be a laughingstock, as an interminable line of cars would be parked forever waiting for a charge, only to do it all again in 220 miles with an 80% charge. One can't drive the family from Chicago to Orlando with novelty transportation.

Electric cars are not the best solution or the way forward. Liquid hydrogen or fuel cells are much better options.

$30K is crazy, when you can have one of these

https://configurator.energicamotorusa.com/start/E9

starting at $21K TODAY, not August 2019.

Energica bikes have been chosen by Dorna for MotoE, and the company's been increasing advertising and expanding it's dealer network in the U.S. The MoCo may be about to have it's lunch eaten in the EV segment. And that segment will be HUGE, it's just matter of time...

That bike puts about 147HP to the ground, which is impressive. Range - 100 miles (120 in eco mode/30 in hard riding). Battery cycle life - 1200, so basically 12k miles until replacement. Looks like a motorcycle to boot. Like

Electric cars have a legitimate purpose in society, especially considering people on average drive less than 40 miles per day.

Electric motorcycles, on the other hand, are wholly pointless from a practicality perspective. Considering motorcycles are primarily used for fun and are not utilitarian, trips are normally longer than the range allowed by the vehicle and recharges are longer than average breaks.

Toss a $30K price tag onto this and you've got a bon-a-fide steamer in the showroom ladies and gentlemen. Congrats on pricing yourselves right out of the competition. Good luck with this one HD.
