And remember; that's a 110 mile range claimed by Harley, the absolute KING of over promise and under deliver. Anybody who buys one of those better have some walking shoes on after about 80 miles of spirited riding. If the people running HD honestly think something like this at a price like that will save HD, they're doomed.

Living in rural northern Michigan, By the time I get to my dealer and part way home - that's where I'll get. I'll talk to the local guy who has a Zero and get his take on electric bikes. But if a guy wanted a commuter bike that was sort of a novelty it might be all right.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? We're talking about the price of an electric motorcycle, which I couldn't care less how much it is. Stay on subject.

I firmly believe that “Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it”. Poor management killed the original Indian. The MOCO administration needs a shakeup sooner rather than later.

And yes I agree, $30,000 is alot for a motorcycle but, younger people (HD's targeted market) for the most part are all about image. Some are willing to go into debt up to their eyeballs for it, so I'm going to sit back and watch.
I don’t think they are “lambasting” over the price but for the the performance (110 mile range) and inconvenience (8 hours to recharge the batteries?) for what the price will be.

I noted the "signature" sound, too. I wonder if they will try to patent it. I wonder if using a non-HD charger will affect the warranty. I can see a few thousand pages of posts about the latter.

I drive a Tesla model 3. They also appeal to people who just like cool technology and fun to drive cars. I also love the near concept car interior, those interiors Detroit always would show off and never produce. Go drive one. 0-60 in less than five seconds and rear wheel drive. Traveled from Georgia to both sides of Ohio and Pennsylvania and back. At worst cost electricity rates of 10 cents a kwh it costs me less than a dollar to do forty miles (figuring 4 to 4.5 miles per khw). I certainly ain't no global warming supporter, these cars are just fantastic to drive.

Oh, my Tesla was 55,500 plus taxes and I will get back 7500 dollars from the Federal government, so figure mid forties when all is said and done. About the same price as any mid level luxury car. Maximum rated range is 310 but based on my Ohio trip if I keep it under 75mph it will stretch to 340.

That out of the way, I was really hoping HD would put out a electric motorcycle that when people thought of EV motorcycles their first thought would be Harley. I wanted a bike I could easily do poker/charity runs without range anxiety. Instead we get this tripe that not only is over priced but doesn't apparently share any accessories with current lines. I am betting a chunk of that price is dealer kick back for no service opportunities.

One of the bikes purpose's IMO is to generate attention and its doing exactly that. I just read in the M8 section yesterday where I guy went into the HD store to buy a part for his bike and ended up buying a 2019 touring bike of some sort instead. How many curious people will go in to see the livewire and leave in debt from purchasing something else they saw while they were there? Getting you into the store is the goal.

They will sell everyone they build and I bet there will be a short waiting list. Zeros sell here and Teslas are starting to show up in force now. With two dealers in OKC and one in Tulsa Livewires will be a reality here. And that surprises me. I never thought we would see them here at all. Will I buy one? NO! After living through the M8 launch, no way I would be a Livewire beta tester. Things are changing. I for one am watching and enjoying. The tech is interesting. Yeah $30k is over the top. So is a $1k plus for a cell phone.
