This thing might be badass once someone cracks the firmware and we see tuners playing with them. Electric MX bikes are screaming these days, and modded Tesla's are pretty bad azz. They are smoking Hellcat's and Z06's. I've ridden a fast electric bike it felt pretty bad *** feeling he acceleration and hearing the road. Just because they make chocolate doesn't mean strawberry sucks.
Electric motors can develop 100% of their torque in a mere fraction of one revolution.

It's priced as a premium product and I don't think HD expects to sell more than limited quantities, from limited dealerships. In Alabama, the only dealer to get them will be in Huntsville, a relatively wealthy tech hub. They are looking at the early adopter market (biker nerds?), especially in states that offer tax credits and incentives for EV's above the Fed incentives. Cheaper models will follow if this one is successful in it's target area.

The Zero DS starts at $11K. I think the Live Wire is just a tad over priced.
https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-ds/ (scroll down to the bottom to see MSRP). If you add all the options, you can get it to $17K.

I test rode a DS Zero 14.4 about 9 days ago. Trust me when I tell you, "These electric bikes are a whole new ballgame."
The torque is amazing, right from 0 mph. The one I rode had about a 260 mile range, iirc. I rode it about 15 miles. It's very easy to get "up to speed" with these bikes. Almost too easy. Oh, they wheelie too...
You can't "blip" the throttle at a redlight or stop sign as you'll shoot thru the intersection...
Yeah, it's like that....

Now Motortrend did a more recent test with a Model S 100d (All wheel drive) and beat every petrol car for sale 0-60 , https://www.motortrend.com/cars/tesl...t-test-review/
Posted 2.3 0-60 with 10.5 quarter at 125.
I own a model 3, standard rear wheel drive edition and it will pull 0-60 in under 5 seconds and I can drive it 300 miles without having to charge it, but like my gas powered toys who runs to empty?
