Need option on Rain suit 98285-14VM

Hi BB2, good to see you mate.
I found this..... 1) There are basically 2 types of rain gear. Light and heavy. I used to carry both. Light was good. But often let in some rain. Not a big deal. The heavy was GREAT and only leaked when it rained VERY, VERY heavily in a torrential down pour. Personally I LOVE those rains. But most do not and would pull off the road. No worries. It is a personal thing. No right or wrong. 2) If you purchase ANY of the heavy GOOD quality HD rain gear, it will be GOOD and do the job for you. ANY of them. Yes, other makers make good ones too but I know HD "did it right". GOOD reflective / piping material, GOOD colors etc..... 3) Whatever gear you get, make sure you have it on RIGHT. Especially around the neck area. IF thee is going to be water intrusion BB2, that is likely where it would be coming in. 4) FWIW: I live in S. Florida. I carry only my heavy upper part of my rain suit. And RARELY, RARLEY ever put it on. I LOVE getting drenched. Here the rain is typically not cold (unless the cloud the rain is coming from is high up). I get SOAKED, but in 20 minutes, dry out. Also the rains here are short lived. It is said my friend, you can ride wet. You can ride cold. But you cannot ride wet and cold. In short, but any HD heavy/good quality rain gear and you are GOOD. |

Here is my dilemma. Most of my time I plan my rides with weather in mind but this year I plan to go for 1800 miles round trip to Sturgis and want to get ready for unexpected rain as this is longer trip. I want something compact but also good enough to keep me dry. Not sure if I should invest in hi vis suit or buy this thing for $55 as last year I caught rain twice so it is not that I am riding in the rain often. I am kinda torn apart as $55 sounds good for HD suit (which I believe is light suit) but at the same time for extra 70$ is can get suit highly recommended by everyone but to use it ones or twice make me think if I should go for cheaper option on this. Please weight in to help me make right decision |
I bought the hi vis and try not to ride in the rain. That being said, I have been caught in some helacious down pours that lasted for quite a while. I have never regretted having bought the heavy suit, which also fits over my chaps and jacket for cold weather. I have never gotten wet inside beyond perspiration. That includes one run in unexpected hurricane residual rain for about eleven hours.

Please weight in to help me make right decision Buy the "cheaper" suit for $55 (realize it sucks) Buy the Hi-vis for $125 (problem solved) In the long run, the HI-vis cost you $180 - why not just buy it now for a $55 discount? |
