In the real world, the going price on that Sportster is something like $2500 to $3k, assuming it's in good shape.
I know right, everybody is in love the Nada book and it never reflects real world pricing.
OP hit craigs list for you area and surrounding big cities and see what the bike is going for, ebay is another source. 95 piglet was only worth $2500 10 years ago. Tell him you'll take the bike and $1500 cash if you really want it, don't even trade.
