I have Progressive 442's in the back and their monotubes up front. There are 2 inches of adjustment on the rear shocks.

Not sure why all the hate on Progressive on this thread. I love this setup. The difference between stock and Progressive is as pronounced as night and day.

You should only get the HD shocks if you are a heavier rider, +280lbs or ride mostly 2 up with gear loaded. If you look around here a TON of people buy the HD shocks and wonder why their ride is so firm and they feel every bump. Odds are they bought the wrong spring because they didn't research. The other thing is people do not adjust the 'sag' correctly. If you buy Progressives with the correct spring and dial in the sag correctly than you will be very happy with Progressives. They are guaranteed for life also....something most shocks do NOT do. They are MUCH better than the Harley adjustable ones.

I would recommend finding a lightly used set on Craigslist or FaceBook marketplace. I found a set of near new Progressive 944's on FB Market place for $380 shipped to me.

I replaced the Harley Premium shocks on my CVO with Progressive 944's. Much better IMO.

HD 12” 944’s on wifes Low Rider with saddlebags and a Road King tour pack. 30+ states and 6 provinces later the verdict is they are much better than stock and very comfortable. I’m only using standard 912’s on my Fat Bob and have no complaints. Harley ride and handling what is is, we’re satisfied with Progressive suspension. Good value in our real world usage

I placed the 944's on my sled, gave me an additional inch of travel and a MUCH better shock then the HD Premium low shocks.

Shocks are like oil around here..... Everyone has the PERFECT answer "for themselves"!

I think it matters on the type of riding you do, and also how much you ride and where you ride.

I’m in the same boat as the OP. Looking at HD Premium or Progressive, mostly just to get rid of the air shocks on my ‘14.

For all the hate on the HD Premium shocks, I sure can’t find any 13” stock take-offs. The 12” ones are a dime a dozen but no 13” ones on eBay or Marketplace.

No matter what you do you can't get a great ride with the *** end design on an HD. Truth. 2.7" of travel is not ideal. There is a reason they don't publish their suspension travel info in the spec section for their bikes...

If keeping the bike as low as possible is your first priority then I would go with the 944 as they are a nice riding shock and keep the bike nice and low.
