Nice test ride on 2018 Road King today

I did not say it was not a good motor at slow speeds. I said, FOR ME, it is not a fun bike to ride at slow speeds. In general, it has a very narrow power band, somewhere between 2500 to 3200 rpms on most bikes. I call that the "sweet spot". On the highway or country roads I can always ride in the "sweet spot" and stay there. I find that when traveling from point to point doing in town errands, I can not really ride the sweet spot. Again, this is about ME, and what I like. Also, my pipes always sound the best TO ME when in the sweet spot. Also, doing errands, you cannot really fully accelerate the way you can on the country roads. FULL Acceleration is always fun FOR ME.
All acceleration is not equal FOR ME. Accelerating in fourth or fifth gear when traveling at 50+ miles per hour is always more fun FOR ME. Basically, once I get over 50 mph, I am accelerating and decelerating in fourth and fifth gear (and even sixth gear) and still staying in that sweet spot. I guess I am figuring out RIGHT NOW, that I like fourth, fifth and sixth gear riding! But in town errands you hardly ever get out of third gear.
On the M8 Road King, to some degree, it really did not matter. Riding in first, second and third gear was not so bad and had some fun.

Have you ever rode a Panhead?? Kicked over a Shovel?? I would love to hear your vast experience and opinion on those....

No, I have never ridden a panhead or a shovelhead, but I would like to.
But I can pretty much predict that the difference between the Twin Cam and the shovelhead is probably on par with the difference between the Twin Cam and the M8, if that is what you are trying to get at, ie that the Twin Cam is a vast improvement in rideability over the shovel and pan head just as the M8 is an improvement in rideability over the Twin Cam.
Do you like riding your Twin Cam in first, second and third gear?

Ummm... I went from an 01 Fatboy to an 09 Roadking.
The Fatboy was cool in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th... I had to skip 3rd gear because it made me feel like I was gonna fall over between 2,500 and 3,724 RPM’s.
On The Roadking I do what I can to get to 4th gear as soon as possible because Twin Cam 96” Touring Bikes suck in 1st - 3rd.
I think if I had a 2019 Fatboy with a 114” M8 I could ride anywhere in any gear.
Seriously though I rode the crap out of the Fatboy just as I ride the crap out of the Roadking. Both bikes kick as on the Hwy or in Town but that’s JUST ME...
