"The news on the Thailand facility was made public hours after Harley-Davidson reported a fourth straight year of declines in worldwide sales. The company has been struggling to revive demand in the United States, which accounts for nearly 60 percent of total sales.

The company expects to ship up to 222,000 motorcycles globally in 2019, the lowest number since 2010.

Shares were down 7.5 percent at $33.88 in afternoon trading. The stock of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based company has fallen about 30 percent since the beginning of 2018."

tariffs are the least of their concerns.

The "thanks to tariffs" stuff is just nakedly political spin.

Does anyone seriously think HD would be a healthy company, if only for those darned tariffs?

This is a company with serious, structural issues. They will either figure it out, or they won't, but nothing that happens in Washington is going to make much difference either way.

Did you actually read the article? If so how did you take the facts presented and conclude that they are losing money?

I've only spent the first 40 years of my career in corporate accounting and finance, so I'm always willing to learn from those who know more -- such as you apparently.

I didn't think it was possible but ya did edit a post with only a link. You are the master...as for the other link, again, you're a headline *****...

...“Operating margin as a percent of revenue decreased in the quarter due to restructuring charges, incremental tariffs and higher recall costs,” according to Markets Insider."

Now, do what people of real intelligence do and examine the annual report and tell us how much, per share, the tariffs cost them in profit. Hint: It is not in any headline.

The Harley Davidson CEO is nothing more than a lying con-artist and is using the tariffs as the reason the company is going down instead of his ****-poor moves.

He has a mental illness issue where he believes that with his toy electric motorcycles young riders are going to storm the Harley Davidson dealerships like it is black Friday. Look no further than Sears to see the harm a con-artist CEO can do to a company. Like a Politician this CEO just has to con his way into keeping his job by blaming others for his **** poor performance.

Too bad in those 40 years they didn't teach you to read. I said nothing about them losing money, I said losing their ***, as in reputation and customers. They are losing a great deal of profit. Carry on there Matt...

Harley is in trouble. They are much too focused on millennials when their core customers are Gen X. I used to get a new Harley every 3 or 4 years however a couple of years ago they changed the
look from the classic look of many years and I now they look like a space ship... no new Harleys for me.

They gotta sell their stuff at Walmart. When Jesse James struck a deal with Walmart to sell his merch he did $100,000,000 in sales in 6 hours!!!!
