Not trying to speak for the OP but It's possible he is talking about the bumper cover or fascia or whatever it is called and not the steel part underneath. That cover comes off pretty easily.

Had a car t-bone my grandson while he was driving my truck in a low speed crash about a year ago. No one was hurt but it left their bumper-cover stuck in my running board, oddly there was no license plate attached. They also drove away in the aftermath. Still have their bumper hanging on a fence post, thought they might stop and claim it.

OP, glad you are going to be OK and the bike will be taken care of, good luck, heal fast.

OK so insurance assessor finally inspected the damage and the insurance FINALLY approved my claim:

Have to replace clutch lever, mirror, turn signal, handle bar, gear shift, floor boards, primary cover, derby cover, fuel tank, swingarm (and bag) and exhaust heat shields. Sissy bar to be repaired and repainted.

Now the big rush to have it repaired before the Skeleton Coast rally: about 5,000 km in 11 days from South Africa, to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia (and perhaps Zambia if time permits).

Sounds like they have the same training classes everywhere in the world for BMW drivers.
