More and/or brighter lights is somewhat similar to helmets--there is no guarantee they will help but, IMHO, they do improve your odds.
And in moderate or heavy traffic in suburban/metro areas I generally approach intersections a little slower than I would be otherwise riding and I definitely believe that since I went with the CD turn signals--especially the front ones--I have noticed on several occasions an oncoming vehicle start to make a left turn in front of me but then they see those CD bright white lights and turn back into their lane to wait for me to pass.

Checked out those led inserts for the signal lights. They look pretty good. Got to make up my mind now which bike I want. A few left over 2018's around here with real good discounts. A heritage marked down 4000 and the Road King Special about 7000, Both in black though, and I really would rather have red, but kind of hard to pass up that deal.

After watching a video on how to be seen on motorcycles, I now "wobble" the bike a little when I see a car approaching me. It seems to catch their attention.
I also use the horn to wake up the zombies in traffic if they start weaving in their lane toward me. Plus the others, like staying in gear at a stop and watching behind me, never riding in a blind spot, etc.
