New 2019 HD Branded Sena 20s and the Bell Mag 9
HD has introduced the new branded Sena 30k and 20s wirelessly interfacing with the WHIM for 2019 and, yes, providing stereo now through the headset. This now presents (3) choices for HD BT headsets for our noggin protectors that 'fully integrate' with the WHIM.
One helmet choice that has been out there since 2012 is the Bell Mag 9 with the integrated trap door for the Sena system. The 30k does not work with it but the 20s has it's own mount plate for the Mag 9. This would now make for an interesting option for a 3/4 helmet with integrated sun visor, sun peak, and face shield with an integrated HD 20s comm unit.
Is anyone using the Mag 9? If yes, what are your thoughts on this helmet behind the barn door of an Ultra Limited?
I am in the market for a new helmet after my brand new Shark Evo One v2 was run over last Fall by a careless pickup truck driver (a whole nother story involving $6500 in damage to my brand new Ultra Limited). I liked the utility of the Shark where I could flip the chin guard around to the back and use it like a 3/4 in city traffic, especially in the heat of summer, and then flip the chinbar back in the rain or if the speeds picked up on the highway. The Mag 9 would provide this same functionality but it would not allow me to flip a chinbar back in place. I was considering a new Nolan N70-2 to replace the Shark as that would allow me to add a chinbar back into the mix but the integrated 20s has me considering a Mag 9 now instead. My plan was to go with the N70-2 and wire a new Cardo Freecom 4+ into it and not care about the stereo music since I am usually parked on the AM dial for traffic reports anyway.
Decisions, decisions....anyone have experience, good or bad, with the Bell Mag 9?
For the record though I will add that it may be a personal taste thing but the Nolan N70-2 and the Bell Mag 9 are pretty ugly helmets in my opinion. But sometimes form needs to follow function....

Bell Mag 9
I had one with a Sena SMH-10 attached. Wasn't a bad helmet behind a good windshield but without the shield, it sucked badly.
The drop down sun shield worked well but the clear shield did not. The architecture was such that if that protective guard on top is caught by the wind, it will jerk you head straight up. I tried to take it off and without it the sun shield didn't operate correctly. Maybe you can figure out how to take the guard off without losing the operative ability of the sunscreen but it just frustrated me. Also the clear shield got very loose and would drop down into my line of sight without warning.
I personally would get another EVO. They are really nice helmets.

I have that helmet. I like the built in sunshade. I don't have a Sena unit on the helmet- just the wired Harley headset. I've never used the helmet without being behind the windshield on the Limited. The ratchet mechanism on the clear shield has worn a bit so it occasionally drops when I want it to stay open. Buying a replacement shield would resolve that problem. For the money, not a bad helmet.
