Mid year model release?

Just my guess but if the MoCo thought that was a great idea and bikes would fly off the showroom floor they'd have already done it. If they sold everyone the bike they "wanted" they'd have a million models. It's kind of the point of HD. Buy the base bike you want and make it your own.

Exactly! But right now Harley doesn't have that BASE BIKE. Not in the touring lineup. The EG Standard WAS that BASE BIKE. You don't want a radio? Fine, it doesn't come with one. You WANT a radio? Fine, you can add one, there's a spot in the fairing just for that. Choose what YOU want and don't want. Not everyone can afford to drop $25-30,000 on a motorcycle. They need to start selling an affordable touring bike again, imho. The Standard was just such a beast.

Im pretty sure it would be a road king
But you guys would still complain that HD is not putting out new bikes and rehashing the same old crap. Why would HD do something stupid like that?

The RK is not the same as a SG or a RG. The radio isn't the only difference. Fairing is as much style as wind protection. I love my SG, but I wouldn't fret if it didn't have a radio. The fairing adds style that I like. I would buy a new SG without a radio, given the option and right pricing (hence the reason for a stripped down bike).

It seems to me an Electra Glide Standard would just cannibalize existing sales, not create new demand in any appreciable way. In addition since it would have a lower price due to less content, there will be less margin built into it. That means while MoCo overall sales might not change much there will be less overall gross profit margin for them - not a recipe for business success. If you take a look across the bike offerings of all the manufacturers, in the above-700cc size there is a steady growth of more and more technology being offered. The exception might be Royal Enfield (650cc) but they will compete on price, in a much much lower price bracket. I myself might be interested in an Electra Glide Standard, if I ever buy a new bike again, but I wouldn't represent growth in the market. If you are a regular on the Forum, you're unlikely to be growth in the market either.

I think if you were to put the front fender from the HD Freewheeler on your bike it would be Harley’s update.
