2005 with 500k miles

I wonder how many engines he went thru ��.. I want to hit 100k on my bagger I am at 30k now.

like mentioned above probably not original power plant but original platform just goes to show that by taking good care of things and a good preventative maintenance schedule these things can go the distance!! I was raised to take care of my things and not abuse them for that reason over the years I have been able to get 300,000 plus miles out of a few pickup trucks that I have owned. for what things cost now days you have to try to make them last!!

Hello all, thank you for the comments and support. I'd like to start by clearing up some misconceptions and answers to questions I saw several times. Contrary to popular assumption, I am not retired. I work full time, about 50 - 60 hours a week. My bike is (mostly) stock TC88, with the hydraulic tensioner upgrade. The top end has been done once, at about 373000 miles. A brief list of engine work; My bike, as many other 05's, was afflicted with the bad valve seals. I reported the problem with less than 1,000 miles. At about 25k the rear cylinder valves went and Harley took care of the problem. (tensioners changed at that time, but they weren't bad) 103k - tensioners replaced, no failure, just maintenance 165k - upgraded to hydraulic tensioners, replace wear items 293k - mainshaft oil seal (as part of charging system work) 304k - replace outer tensioner (again, not bad) 373k - replace top end (yes, another story) I rebuilt the tranny at 250k (countershaft bearing failed) The clutch was done at 383k, and had I changed out the steels and not just the friction plates I would not have been back to it at 471k (just wasn't right, couldn't adjust out the drag) I have a (mostly) complete maintenance log, if there is interest and someplace to upload it. 2 years ago I sold my motor with 92000 miles on it because I gotta good deal on one with 10000 miles, I feel pretty confident I could’ve gone at least another 100000 miles or more, the compression was still great and used about a 1/4 to 1/2 a quart of oil between 5000 to 7000 miles oil changes...I was going to upgrade so buying a 103HO made sense. |

So original motor and the bike still looks good, better then some bikes I see locally with 10k miles on them. Good for him, maintenance son, maintenance!!!!

I wonder at what point the dealer stopped giving him shit for having an old bike and started pating him on the back for the mileage? |
