Coldest I rode in was 37ーF. Never again. It sucked bad!
I rode to work about 17 miles on the freeway. Once I got off the freeway at the offramp light, I grabbed the jugs to warm my fingers. They hurt bad once I got to work and they warmed up. I won't ride if it gets colder than 50ーF.
Nice! I rode about 150 miles yesterday it was 75 degrees and sunny! Tomorrow morning will be 34 and dark when I leave for work so I should take the car but I still have the itch to ride so I might bundle up and ride the 30 miles to work
I'm with Bwall, if it's 35* and the roads are clear with no salt, I'm out. Only thing I ever had trouble with was cold fingers, the battery powered gloves took care of that problem.
The salt covered roads are the only thing keeping the bike in the garage right now.
I've ridden as low as 42, shield, soft lowers and fur lined army air corp flight pants I picked up at a surplus store years ago, Today it was 7 and a wind chill of -22. I'm stubborn, but I'm not stupid.
I ride daily and yes I am in cali (high desert) temps been in the 27s to 30s with 10 to 20 mph winds daily when I get off work. If i didnt have heated gear i wouldn't be riding. The lowers and RGS makes a big difference
Live in Sacramento, worked in Santa Rosa. 110 miles door to door 1 way. Starting about mid Novemberr, temps when I would leave in the mornings were 33-35 deg most of the time. My commuter is Ultra Limited with heated seat and grips, thermals, chaps, Carhart over leather jacket, BMW cold weather gloves. Tolerable for the 2+hour ride.
