Default The Best Day at Work I Ever Had

Back in the fall of 1977 I sold my car and ordered a new Honda Accord. I had a bike to ride to work so it was no big shake. Then came the dock workers strike. No cars were unloaded from the freighters until early December.
About November I attached a sidecar I had and mounted a Trials-Universal tire to act as I snow tire if I needed it. Well I did. I went to work one day in about six inches of snow. The shop foreman walked by and said “you didn’t”? I walked him over to the window and showed him my bike in the lot.

The next day he lit into my group leader who had called off the day before. The foreman said “That dumb S.O.B. came in on a motorcycle and you couldn’t with your 4x4”?

Needless to say, my relationship with my group leader was never quite the same.

Thanxabunch! I took almost the same photo 41 years later on my Husky. I really trashed that BMW with the salt. My Deluxe will stay safe in the garage until the roads are clear. The Husky is my commuter/beater.

39 here in South Jersey. I went out for a quick 30 minute ride. A little cold, but still nice to get out for a quick ride.

If it was dry we would be.
But we are in the middle of what they are calling snowma-geddon so not till it goes away and the roads get cleaned up (gravel/sand/salt).

Default Nipple Hard Weather

A real rider isn't bothered by the weather. I've ridden in all types of weather but not always by choice. Hate when my visor freezes up with ice so thick I can't scrape it off (22°).

Default Commute

In 1970 I commuted both ways every day Sac to Napa on a Honda 350. Wore a big yellow rain suit taped sleeves and legs. Wouldn't do that again for school and job.

Ah, great to meet yet another "real rider!"

If I had a dime for every time somebody proclaims what a real rider is, and it just so happens that they do that, I'd be retired.
