Stage 1Upgrade

Is it worth the $ to do a stage 1 on a 2003 883c HD Sportster?

In my opinion, nope. Not worth the money.

Curious on this one? Stage 1 for a TC, EVO, TC, M8, and even a 1200 is always worth it.

What’s the deal with an 883? Gonna sound better and have a little more power?

If it was me I would... Stage 1 is where it all begins.

For me, that would depend on how the bike runs. I had to do a Stage 1 on my Sportster and my Road King to get them to run right. If a bike runs good in stock form, I leave it alone.

We used to call it "the Harley tax". Ya gotta pay it. :icon_cool:

If you plan on keeping the bike and want a little more power, then yes.

STAGE 1 UPGRADE

A Stage 1 Upgrade is the easiest of all. It involves modifying the system, air filter and fuel metering system to allow it to increase available power, breathe more efficiently and allowing it to run as efficiently as possible.
Stage 1 Upgrade usually consists of recalibrating the air intake and exhausts systems together to improve the air flow by using aftermarket or Harley parts.

First off More air.
Cheapest way is to just buy a high flow air filter to fit your stock tin. Lifetime filter, just wash oil and ride.

K&N HD-1388 $78.99 free shipping.

Second is Exhaust to match the increased air flow. For god sake don’t drill out your exhaust.
Vance & Hines Straight Shots $549.99
Screaming Eagle Shorties Dual $300

Plenty more options out there

Now you need to tune what you put on. Here you have more options than a possum in a stump full of granddaddies.
Folks out there offer Carburetor Jet kits. DynoJet is one. CV Performance is another. Find a mechanic that has done it before.
So for $700 to $1000 worth of parts and a decent mechanic you should get a performance gain of HP and torque.

Is it worth it. I think so. I am currently installing quite a few goodies on my '07 Heritage.
