motobike jack - yes i can.

So I have a bad knee and the 2019 RGS has no real place to grab the bike in the rear to upright it, if it tumps over... yes I watched all the videos and can lift smaller bikes but a bad knee is a bad knee that isn't worth making worse....

I found this out the hard way 4-5 months back when I slipped on some gravel and had to wait for help to upright my baby after hurting my knee worse trying to upright it myself..

fast forward

I looked and looked to find a portable assist to help me upright my bike if this ever happened again. I did: and last Friday my foot slipped again and down she went, slow but down. I got out my motojack and in less than 5 minutes I was upright and back on my bike.

It was pricey at $220.00 but even if I only ever used it one time, it was priceless to me, because one of the things a motorcycle gives me is a feeling of independence.

you trying to sell something?

Bluraven 02-10-2019 09:32 AM

If you can't pick it up then you shouldn't be riding it.
Once I can't pick it up I'll be going to a trike.

I guess you missed the whole point of my post - with the little jack thing - I could pick it up. Voila and I could keep riding.
and no
I am not trying to sell anything accept helping others protect their knees and backs
and if
you ever lay your bike over on any kind of an incline and your by yourself - good luck getting her back up.
life is short
Remember: it is better to have and no need than to need and no have.

That's an interesting way to upright a bike. Thanks for sharing!

It's actually a very cool tool to have. Thanks for sharing. Even if we have the strength to lift it, we could pull a muscle, aggravate an old injury or maybe there's gravel or a slippery surface where we can't get a good footing to lift. As a matter of fact, something like this can be made at home in a pinch with a 2x4 and a ratcheting tie down.

Remember last year when the gentleman dropped his bike in the garage and had no way to lift it? This could have made a difference.

Over the last 5 years, I've had 2 total knee replacements. This situation has been a concern of mine.. That price isn't out of line if you consider a visit to an orthopedic dr. I didn't know about this jack. Thanx for sharing.

I've seen these things advertised in the AMA magazine for a year or more. Good to hear some real world experience. It looks really simple though. :icon_denk: Me being a devoted tinkerer, I've speculated several times on how it's made, or more correctly, how one could be made. My guess is the real attribute is the multi-piece stand that allows compact storage. My concern though is a stable base. Man, that foot looks really small. Is there some trick to positioning it?

One of those "why didn't I think of that" inventions.
Pricy but worth more than that if you ever drop your bike.
I have dropped bikes in the past. Usually I am so pissed, adrenalin makes picking the bike up feel as light as a feather.

That is what happened to me, new knee and hip.
No way could I pick up the Ultra if she decided to lay down.

Trike takes some getting used to mentally and physically but happy with my decision.
