Windshield Storage
I absolutely love the fact that I can transform my Deluxe from a cruiser to touring trim in just a few minutes. I just wanted to share a little project I completed to allow me to store my windshield when I'm not using it. I made up a couple of stand-offs to mount to the window sash. I bought extra rubber grommets (the same ones that are on you bike) and screwed them to the stand-offs (same spacing as your forks).

Previous owner had a windshield on my WG when I bought it. It was laying in a corner of my garage for a long time. Then I decided I needed somewhere better to store it, so I put it in the trash can. Haven't seen it since. :D

That just gave me a great idea. I have Windshields for my Dyna and 2 Sportsters, the quick release models with the clamps on the fork tubes. 39MM fork tubes, 1 1/4" EMT Conduit is 38.5MM outside diameter. Use some stand off hangers to bolt the conduit to the wall in the garage, clamp the windshields to the conduit, if it's a little sloppy put a few wraps of electrical tape around the conduit to build it up.
Sounds like a good project for a rainy weekend. |
