That did cross my mind also.

Letting people test ride one would be a risky proposition.

Seems I twigged a few nerves.

Gotta be earned kids, can't buy your way in. Just the way it is.

Default Home built choppers

I've made a few in my garage:

Black one is a '59 XLCH. Triumph frame converted to accept the Ironhead. Engineered brackets and mounts to shift on the left and rear brake on the right. I used eBay buys to mount the front and rear calipers. Had to be machined to work. The rear light is a front fender mount parking light from a '39 Chevy with a '61 Chev cut down red lens. I made the sissy bar, license plate mount, headlight mount, and all other mounts.

Second bike I made for my brother. New 45 degree Kraft Teck hardtail frame, new from HD a 1340 Evo, backed up by a Baker 6 speed kick start, open primary. Again, all mounts were made by me. The exhaust is a newer bagger takeoff, cut to eliminate the left exhaust, and formed the end to accept an aftermarket muffler. The plates for the rear brake, clutch, and foot pegs were designed and made by me. All other brackets, rear passenger, split tanks, top motor mount, etc., were made in house. I also made the jockey shifter and used a 50cc piston. I don't have pictures of the finished bike because my brother was anxious to ride to Sturgis. The paint was barely dry when he left. No hiccups of any king going or coming!

I had converted my home garage into a working shop. I had a lathe, milling machine, metal band saw, TIG and gas welders, anvil, Beverly shears, etc, and all the hand tools that would fit into 6 Craftsman tool boxes.
I have built many more choppers, bobbers, and full restorations on older Harleys.
A few months ago I decided to close down my shop and retire from the bike building business. I sold all my machines except for my welding machines and my bike lift.
I have a '15 Street Glide, and a '17 Softail Slim. My two sons also ride Harleys, so most weekends we are in the wind.

Me too. My first one in '94. Back in the "billet" days. 3" open belt drive, magneto with a battery eliminator, hence the kick start. One kick required.

So will the same build not buy guys be proud of these guys making their own styled motorcycle? Have to be some serious back yard engineering here.
