There are TWO Sportster engines......ironheads and Evos......rubber mounted after 2004. So, I wasn't sure what you meant. You said "shovelhead", "Evo", and "Twin Cam"......As for my post.....I was just trying to be funny, not insult you.....if I offended you, I apologize...I didn't mean to.
To your topic....not sure where you live, but here in northern Ohio, you can buy nice running, good condition Sportsters for $2500 to 3,000.

My son just picked up a nice clean 1988 evo sportster first year for the 1200 I think,
for $2000. Second owner bike unmolested

 

Sporties are great bikes. I especially like the "Custom" from about 2011 or so. Bags/ w'shield/4.5 gallon tank and that bike is ready to run with any big twin that HD makes. (Probably out run most of 'em too.)
Best thing is, they don't suffer from the dreaded "death wallow"that the baggers have...

 

i picked this 2002 ,1200 up 2 years ago for less than $2k. 12000 miles on it. it needed a couple of wires fixed on it.

 

price depends on many things. location, location, location for instance.

perhaps the natives were confused by your given location.
