New bike Or throw money in 06?
I have been out of the loop for a few years. About 2 yrs ago i scooped up a low mileage 2006 CVO Ultra. I'm thinking about throwing some new shocks on it, maybe a new seat, handlebars etc. It's got about 16k miles on it. U guys think its dumb to put that kind of loot into a 13yr old bike? I could just go get one of the M8's.
Looking for some thoughts, opinions.
Thanks

That 06 has low mileage. I had an 07 CVO and loved it. I wore out the CVO and traded for an M8 Limited. Myself I like the bells and whistles on the CVO and the paint is fabulous. Do whatever you need to to be happy.
On a side note I converted my leather tourpak to detatchable. On that year CVO you lose the radio when you remove tourpak because the amplifier is mounted under the tourpak. I bought a detatchable Sissy bar and luggage rack and another amplifier that I mounted under the luggage rack so I could swap without losing music. I still have the luggage rack with the amp attached and I also have a brand new in the box never mounted CVO heated seat with the osterich inlay that was used on that year CVO.

If the '06 is paid for and only has 16,000 miles on it, WHY in heaven's name would you wanna go in debt for a new bike? 16,000 miles is barely broken in! Sticking a few thousand dollars into that bike would sure beat going into debt for a new STOCK bike, that you'd probably have to put a few thousand dollars into anyway, to get it the way you want it. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the newer Harleys, and I'd much rather have your bike anyway.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and opinions. The bike is currently on the lift getting the cam tensioner upgrade. I kinda of figured that was a necessity regardless if i kept it or not. Hd4ever your right by the time I got the M8 where I wanted it I'm 5k over the price. My friends busting chops cause they all got new stuff thats I why I asked. Its my 6th twin cam

I just had a stage 2 installed (power commander v, new high flow air cleaner, cam, etc). Last couple of years had a top end, Ohlins shocks, progressive fronts. Probably $3,000 of upgrades in all in my 23 year old Evo. 70,0000 on the odometer.
I was in the same boat as you (OP)
I still take second glances at my bike when I walk away. That makes me realize I have the right bike.
Still putting a little away for a new bike but I'll keep this one.
