Just had a rocker box gasket covered under ESP.

Your dealer sucks.

Just wipe it off once in a while. Yes, it's seeping. But I bet you put one drop of oil there and ride an hour, it would spread three times as far.

If it's not dripping, it really is not leaking. But I understand how. You fill when you buy a new item.

It's pretty obvious when you pull a late model Harley apart, they have used some type of sealer on the gaskets since the covers are really stuck.

I use a paper thin skim coat of black RTV and after putting it back, let it sit 24 hours. Then roll off any bead that came out. Obiviously, they cannot do that. In an engine, you need to be extremely careful not to get it loose inside motor.

What the dealership is afraid of in my opinion is the MotherShip is not going to support the warranty and if a bolt snaps, or the fix still weeps with just standard gaskets, or he makes it worst, it's a no win for him.
Your copay would cover new gaskets, a tube of black RTV and the little time it would take to lift tank up and replace gaskets and seal rocker cover bolt heads. What I would do in about 10 years when it managed to weep enough in a long ride to come over that cover.

Ya know how many schmo's come in the dealer complaining about "leaks" c'mon" quit polishing the bike, than you wont know its leaking till its on your right boot or leg. Ride it till it dies, quit treating it like an investment...

So the oil blows back on your right saddlebag, it waterproofs the leather....

I had this same situation several years ago with a Honda CB 750 which are known to be good bikes. Honda would not fix it.

Gob some JB weld over top of that bolt and cover everything up nice and tight then be done with it. J/K

As mentioned, get a torque wrench and torque it to spec. That should stop it and its so easy a caveman could do it.

Amazing. If it were a car or truck, the dealership would bend over backwards to make you happy. The MoCo thinks that because most people would not jump ship & ride another make, they can treat their customers like crap. Same way a HOTT babe treats guys like crap, 'cause they know they'll keep coming back. THAT'S the reason the Co. is losing market share; their customer service blows the BIG ONE. Frankly, I'm surprised they offer ANY warranty at all; people will still buy HD. THAT'S the reason I will never buy new again, only lo mile, used, from private party.

With what they charge for these bikes, it's an absolute crime the way they treat their customers.

"Gob some JB weld over top of that bolt and cover everything up nice and tight then be done with it."

NOOOO! Do NOT do that! RTV silicone if anything, but that seldom works anyway. Have it fixed right.
