Back on my Road Glide

Back on my Road Glide
First ride on my Harley since the middle of October. Had back surgery the first part of November and haven't been able to ride my Glide; had to make do with my Beemer. My left leg is still not 100% a team player, but I put the heel shifter back on and managed a modest ride this afternoon. I had thought about having to get rid of the Harley, but that's off of the table for now. Sunny weekend in the low 70's coming up. I'm going to try to get in some practice.

After back surgery last February 2018 I was able to get back on my bike in mid March 2018 but my right leg was very weak because of the severe pain I had suffered for many weeks before the Operation making it very difficult to hold up the bike.
After getting back on the bike, I made it a point to go to the gym at my local Y, 3 time a week (M,W,F) for one hour each day during which I did, and still do, excesizes to strengthen my leg(s). Could hardly press 60 lbs with my right leg. Can now do 3 sets of 20 reps at 150 lbs.
Since I'm slight of build and had difficulty lifting my bike of the Jiffy stand, I also added a number of exesizes to strenthen my upper body as well. It has made a big difference in my ability to ride my Heritage, and now my new Street Glide Special.
Glad you are riding again, but please do what is ever necessary to help that left leg to do its job.

Glad to hear your back on the bike . After I had broken my tibia it was somewhat difficult to lift the bike . After 8 months of physio and a lot of exercising and strengthening , I can now lift my bike without feeling much pain .. Do your physio and be patient , your incentive is just like mine . No better therapy than wanting to ride . Good luck and I hope you enjoy the weekend coming up !
