I was resetting my A and B trip,which I rarely do and noticed that that both A and B trip numbers were significantly more than the odometer mileage numbers.I reset both back to zero and will take a ride today and see what happens.
I did search here,and found a few threads on this but nothing that I felt really explained Why this happens.I also looked further on line to get an answer.Again no help.Can anyone advise further on this ? Thanks in advance

PS....it's a 13 HSC and I'm the original owner

 

Interesting.
For example Trip A Screen reads 900 miles
For example Trip B Screen reads 700 miles
But total odometer mileage reads 500 miles
The trip readings are greater than the odometer total reading.

Only a guess....rule out that that you were reading one of the readouts as kilometers.
The trip screens re-set to zero may lead us to more info.

Both A and B were the same mileage.And after reading a few posts about this I did consider that maybe I read it in kilometers ? . I didn't realize that it can be read that way.I can't remember the last time I used my trips

 

What did trip A & B read? What did the odometer read at the same time?
Was this the first time ever that you reset the Trip A & Trip B's milage?
I'm unaware that one could be miles and the others kilometers, if so I learned something new today.

 

Don't the roll back to zero after 1000 or 10000 miles ?

I use my A odometer as my fuel gage.... hit 200 miles and I start looking for gas. Don't trust the fuel gage...use that only for reference. So i'm always resetting my A odometer. And I forget to set my B odometer for trips!!

 

Well,took a nice little ride today.Put 75 miles on.Everything seems to be ok as of now.Ill keep an eye on it.Probably something that I over looked or something like that.Thanks to all for your time

 

That really seems strange. I would challenge the idea that you could read in different units. It seems to me that setting the speedo to read either miles or kilometers would be universal across all readings. But I could learn something new too.

Have you really never reset the trip odometer since 2013?

FWIW, I bought both of my bikes used, so I reset trip B at the time of purchase. Trip B will always show "my" mileage on the bike and like Spartanden, I use trip A as a range marker.

 

If it's over 999 miles since you reset them I'm going to hazard the guess that they rolled over. But just a guess, I'm OCD about the trip meters in my truck and my bike so haven't seen them much more then 500 miles or so.
